The NEET exam for 2025 and what scores you need to get into medical school. This is super important stuff if you want to be a doctor someday!
NEET is this big test that happens on May 4, 2025. The National Testing Agency (NTA) sets all the rules. After the test, they’ll tell everyone the official cut-off marks on June 14, 2025. That’s when we’ll know for sure what scores you need.
For regular students (that’s the general category), you’ll probably need between 720 and 166 marks to qualify. Different groups need different scores:
- Regular students: 720-162 marks (that’s the 50th percentile)
- Regular students with physical handicaps: 161-144 marks (45th percentile)
- OBC, SC, and ST students: 161-127 marks (40th percentile)
- SC/OBC students with physical handicaps: 143-127 marks (40th percentile)
These scores might change based on how many kids take the test, how hard it is, and how many seats are open in the colleges. The NTA will post the final scores on their website in the middle of June.
Just qualifying isn’t enough, though! A “safe score” means you have a good chance of actually getting into a government medical college. Here are the safe scores for 2025:
- Regular students: 610-650 marks
- OBC students: 590-630 marks
- SC students: 500-550 marks
- ST students: 450-500 marks
If you want to get into super fancy schools like AIIMS or Maulana Azad Medical College, you need more than 650 marks!
The cutoff changes every year because of competition. Students should check the NTA website for the latest info and look at past years’ scores too. Remember, just passing the cutoff doesn’t guarantee you’ll get in. Since there aren’t enough spots for everyone, you need really high marks to get a seat in the best colleges.
